1999年発売のMMORPG「EverQuest」でリードプログラマー、リードデザイナー、プロデューサーを務めたBrad McQuaid(ブラッド・マッケイド)氏が2019年11月18日に亡くなったことが明らかになった。享年51歳。
Brad McQuaid氏は1996年にソニー・オンライン・エンタテインメントに入社し、リードプログラマーやリードデザイナーとして「エバークエスト」の開発に参加した。その後、エバークエストのプロデューサーも務めている。
また、近年では開発会社Visionary Realmsを設立し、同社のチーフクリエイティブオフィサー及びディレクターとして新作MMORPG「Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen」を手掛けていた。
PantheonやEverQuestの公式TwitterではMcQuaid氏の訃報が伝えられた。

ソニー・オンライン・エンタテインメントの元社長のJohn Smedley氏はTwitterで「ブラッドは驚くほど才能のあるクリエイターであり、エバークエストは彼の非凡な才能なしには存在しませんでした。彼がいなくなると寂しくなります。」と投稿した。

1999年に発売された「EverQuest」は後のほぼ全てのMMORPGに多大な影響を与えており、彼の貢献なくしては現代の大多数のMMORPGは存在しえなかったと言っても過言ではないだろう。
