6月6日に発売されたハック＆スラッシュアクションRPG「ディアブロIV」のハードコアモードで、世界最速レベル100を達成したゲーム配信者のcArn氏だが、ゲームプレイ中に回線が切断してしまい、再ログイン後、キャラクターが死んでいたことが確認された。
ハードコアモードではキャラクターが1度でも死亡すれば二度と使うことはできなくなる。
cArn氏のキャラクターは回線切断中にモンスターにやられてしまったようで、ログイン画面で確認できる死因には「Vampire Bat（吸血コウモリ）に殺された」と書かれている。このキャラクターこそ、ディアブロ4ハードコアモードで世界最速レベル100を達成したバーバリアンだ。
cArn氏はこのキャラクターに82時間ほどを費やした。
Kotaku.comによると、ディアブロのハードコアモードでは、キャラが死亡した際に意図的に回線を切断して死を「なかったこと」にされないように、回線切断後もしばらく敵の攻撃を受けてしまう仕様になっているとのこと。
いずれにせよ、世界最速のプレイヤーが身をもってハードコアモードがどのような仕組みなのかを見せることになったようだ。
